The Teens are Here

This morning, the windchill was 17 degrees. That's the first time the temp has gotten below 30 on a commute so far. It was fun to get out all the cold weather gear and ride. It's always enjoyable for the first few weeks of riding a new season. This is the the time of year when it's super bright in the mornings with clear skies and your breath in the air. Soon enough, it will get dreary, wet and gray. I'll soak up these rides for as long as I can get them.

Welcome, Winter. It's good to have you back.

Get out there.

  1. Hey Derrick, it was pretty brisk here in Vermont also. The north wind was biting cold and my fingers were aching, riding with my son to his school. When I turned around and climbed a mile long hill back home, my fingers finally thawed. Brrr.

  2. @ Annie - I bet you guys have it colder than we do! That's why I try to never complain about the weather. No matter how cold or wet or hot or humid it is in KY, there's always some place worse.

  3. Stoneagefamily here, I am so jealous I could burst. In Misawa Japan winter is playing games. Snow one day that melts as it lands and the 55 degrees the next day. Also I haven't ridden in a month and I don't know if I ever will again. I haven'y been diagnosed yet but I can barely breathe and my muscles fatigue from simple things like typing this little post is making my arms ache. Walking ten feet takes all the energy I have. I am waiting to fly to HI for tests and hopefully treatment. If I do recover from this I am getting my TI dream bike. Keep the bike news coming, it helps to read your blog and other bike stuff. Other than how to take care of my family the only selfish thing that gets to me is not being able to ride.
I love your Troll, I was looking at one for my wife before all this happened. She was ready to get into commuting and family trips when we got back to the States. For now I will ride vicariously.

  4. @ Stoneagefamily - Man, I'm so sorry to hear that. I'll be praying for a positive diagnosis and recovery... and lots of patience for you and your wife as you cope. Thanks for the kind words, too. The Troll isn't near where I want it to be. But I have to make my purchases in slow increments. We've got a baby due next month. So the adventure cash flow is a little tight :)
